Firstly, I’d like to apologise for being so quiet lately – my fiance and I have found out I’m pregnant *and* I’ve moved house so there’s a lot been going on in my personal life. To say it’s been hectic is an understatement. On top of that, I have hyperemesis gravidarum, a pregnancy complication that causes really severe and persistant sickness. There are no words to describe how debilitating the nausea I experience on a daily basis is. But, I’m feeling a little better, and back to blogging.
Now that I’m almost 19 weeks pregnant, I’m definitely seeing the benefit of maternity wear. I am a curvy girl so fit is so important to me. So, here’s some tried and tested ranges suitable for all us -momma’s-to-be, with two thumbs up from me.
What do I love about ASOS.com’s own Maternity range? Their collection is so vast and varied, you can show off your bump and still maintain your own personal style. I mean everything – from swimwear to lingerie and evening wear to work wear up to a UK 20.
I’m a fan as they are so comfy – in particular the leggings – which have always been a wardrobe staple of mine, regardless of the time of year. They are cut to stretch with you, as your baby and bump grows. I also love that they do a nursing maternity range too, so you can start your new life as a momma without having to compromise on style.
H&M Mama is all about being comfortably chic. They stock great basics in a neutral palette alongside new season colours and prints to suit your personality. They stock up to an XXL, which is about an UK 18 / 20.
I love that there is the nursing functionality in a lot of their range too, which means you can get more out of their clothes when your baby arrives. I’m personally a fan of tops and dresses, and they have plenty of room for a changing pregnant body.
New Look Maternity
New Look’s maternity range is budget friendly, fashion forward, comfortable and functional. From staple pieces to season must-haves, whatever stage you’re at with your pregnancy, their line is here to help, up to a UK 20.
I’m personally loving their maternity nursing bras – with no wires, and removeable padding. I’m a difficult person to please with bras. I’m big chested and I’ve previously always gone for underwired and padded bras, but these don’t feel like you’re even wearing a bra. Huge plus when you’re already uncomfortable with the symptoms of pregnancy (like the hot flashes)!
